Stage 5
Wraparound Support
1.) Parent Communication
Communication with parents can help make them aware of issues that are arising at school. This can help them get involved in resolving the conflict and may help me understand what may be the root of the problem. (Wong, 2009) 2.) Family Conference If a student's behavior has not improved with an individual contract I may ask parents to come to a family conference to meet with me and the student. At this conference we can discuss the issues arising in class and determine proper supports for the student. (Claassen and Claassen, 2008) |
3.) Administrative Support
As a final individual classroom step I will ask for administrative support in addressing the conflict. The aim of this support is to address the issue and to resolve the conflict when other means have not been effective. (Claassen and Claassen, 2008)
4.) SST Plans/IEP Plans
SST meetings can bring all parties involved together to help support the student. The result of these meetings can bring everyone on the same page and create concrete goals for the student that reach across the entire school and not just in one classroom. The student will be able to get the support they need throughout their entire school experience. (Olson, 2009) An IEP plan may be needed if the circumstances of the student are appropriate. Developing this plan with the proper experts and staff will help me provide the support that a student may need to be successful.

Philosophy:
When a student is in need of stage 5 supports the individual reflective process of the previous stages has not been effective for them. Therefore in this stage I will involve outside supports that will help both me and the student determine strategies that will better enable them to succeed in the classroom. The focus of all these efforts being to better understand the student's needs and what will be effective at addressing their concerns and conflicts.
